We're movers. We have to move. But in a world geared for adults, how do we get this done?
The City Bus: Despite the occasional drunk person and having to wait in the rain, the city bus is an excellent choice for those of
us who are car impaired or environment friendly. Besides, it was named the 2003 Community Transport System of the Year by
CTAA. Also, there are wheelchair accessible buses, and you
can bring your bicycle on the bus.789-3901 Bus schedules are available from the library, the bus,
or online. The cost: If you're under 18, it's a dollar to go one way. Youth monthly bus passes are available at JDHS, City
Hall, Hearthside books, A&P and Fred Meyer and cost $12.60. Cars: The obvious alternative to riding
the bus is riding in cars. Or, GASP! Driving yourself in cars. Getting your license: You have to be 16 in order
to get your license, and even when you're 16 you have to follow the rules of the Graduated Driver's License for 6 months after
the date you earn your license or until you turn 18. After you do all of your studying, you should set up your appointment
by calling this number:
Alaska State Of: Motor Vehicles Div Of: Juneau Driver Licensing Motor Vehicles Field Office: 2760 Sherwood Ln Drivers
Licensing 465-4385
The DMV office is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
Remember that when you take your driving test, you have to bring your own car, so you might as well clean it! Make
a good impression.
Having your license: When you're driving, your car is sure to need repairs and maintainance.
Here are a few numbers to call when things go wrong.
REMEMBER: In an emergency dial 911
Oh, and by the way, you legally must have insurance to drive. Geico is cheap,
but you have to be over 18. The way around this is to put your parent as the "applicant" and you can still be the primary
driver and owner of the car. Plus, it's cheaper that way.

It's not always an option to drive or take the bus, and in emergency situations, cabs are reliable and safe. The downside?
They are really expensive! Fortunately in Juneau, there is a city ordinance that requires all cabs to cost the same, so cost-wise,
doesn't matter who you call. Do you have a preference? Let us know by clicking the "Rate it Yourself!" button up there by
the top of the page. Alaska Cab 780-6400 Capital Cab 586-2772
